Malem Thongam arrives at Mao Gate

Malem Thongam, who is cycling from Delhi carrying a message of peace, reached Mao Gate in Senapati district this afternoon after passing through Kohima. She had departed from Kohima at around 9.15 am earlier in the day.
Following prior information about her arrival, Mao Police were present at Mao Gate to receive her. Malem Thongam was accompanied by a few Meitei women from Kohima. After a brief interaction at Mao Gate, she was escorted to the office of the Superintendent of Police, Senapati.
Discussions are expected to be held at the SP’s office regarding her onward journey through Kangpokpi district. It has been decided that Malem Thongam will stay overnight at the SP office in Senapati.
During her journey, Mao Police escorted her up to Maram, after which Maram Police provided escort up to Senapati as she continued her cycling.
