Maibam Kunjo passes away

Hiyanglam Assembly constituency MLA Maibam Kunjo passes away today morning at his official quarter at Babupara. He was 72. Family source said that Kunjo was suffering from a serious disease since the last couple of months.Maibam Kunjo was born on August 16, 1942. He was first elected in 1972 election from Hiyanglam Assembly constituency as a Manipur Peoples’ Party candidate.Later, he was elected again in 1995 and  2000 general election from the same assembly constituency and again in 2012 general election.He is survived by 5 sons and 2 daughters.Chie Minister  Okram Ibobi Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, Speaker Th. Lokeshore other Ministers and MLAs of the Manipur Legislative Assembly paid fitting tribute  to the lifeless body at Babupara today. Trinamool Congress MLA Th. Shyamkumar and Dr, I Ibohalbi were also present on the occasion.In his condolence message the Chief Minister said Maibam Kunjo was a man of great political vision who work for the upliftment of poor and betterment of the society.Speaker, Th. Lokeshore, in his condolence message said that the demise of M Kunjo is the lost of not only for Hiyanglam constituency but also for the state of Manipur.
