The Union Health Ministry continues to ignore Regional Institute of Medical Sciences which is indicative of the mindset of the national leaders. The term of the present in charge director had
expired on February 25. In the light of the SC ruling that an official against whom chargesheet cannot be framed within 3 months should be reinstated it was expected that things will move in the right direction. However in view of the utter negligence which is not seen in any central medical college it is not surprising that nothing is done as yet.
As RIMS has been without an in charge or regular director for over one month an important question as to who is running the show is not answered. Though the term was not extended for the present in charge
director important files including those concerning finance are disposed of. In other words it is not known who is signing the important files and in what capacity.
Without the timely appointment of the head of the institute all files signed between February 25 and today will be questionable and the validity and legality may be challenged. The health minister and high officials should have taken up timely steps according to the rules.
But people in this region gain the impression that no proper attention is given to the welfare and normal administration of RIMS.
Though some BJP workers in Manipur had expressed happiness over the developments in RIMS they remain unconcerned to the non-implementation of the plan schemes and how important buildings are not constructed and fund for the same had been diverted. And the financial year is ending in three days. But the Modi government remains unconcerned.
