Locals of Jirighat annoyed and throng at Jiri Bridge on high charge of COVID-19 testing

The locals of Jirighat and the neighbouring areas were annoyed over the high charge of COVID-19 testing at the entry gate of Jiribam District from the neighbouring areas of Assam.
In view of the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the State in the last few days. As per instruction of the Director of Health Service, Manipur, the Chief Medical Officer of Jiribam District started screening and testing for COVID-19 for the people who were entering Jiribam from the other State at the entry point of Jiribam at the rate of Rupees One hundred and fifty for each person testing.
On which, the locals of Jirighat, Cachar which is adjacent to Jiribam District of Manipur were discontented and blocked the road on the high charge of COVID-19 testing while entering Jiribam.
Thereafter, taking the stock of the situation, the district police authority of Jiribam talked with the police authority and local leaders of Jirighat and brought an amicable solution by allowing the people for COVID-19 testing at free of cost for time being till the further order of the Manipur government regarding the fixation of COVID-19 screening and the testing rate at the suitable price rate.
It might be recalled here that Jiribam District is the border area of Manipur adjacent to Cachar District of Assam. Such commotion has often been seen at the entry gate of Jiribam whenever any decision of government takes place without the consent of the neighbouring State of Assam.
