Live grenade and threatening note found at Priyanka’s residence in Thoubal

A live hand grenade along with a threatening note was recovered today from the residence of Gotimayum Priyokumar Sharma, father of Gotimayum Priyanka, at Thoubal Kiyam Siphai Khong Ahanbi in Thoubal district. The grenade, identified as a 36-HE type, was found early this morning during a police inspection conducted under the jurisdiction of Thoubal Police Station.
The Thoubal Police team, assisted by the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, reached the residence around 6 a.m., cordoned off the area, and safely recovered the high-intensity explosive. The grenade was later disposed of at a secure location in the district following standard operating procedures.
Alongside the grenade, police recovered a threatening note addressed to Gotimayum Priyanka, first runner-up of the Miss Manipur 2017 pageant. The note warned: “We will give you a death sentence, Gotimayum Priyanka,” and bore the signature of the proscribed outfit Kangleipak Communist Party–People’s War Group (KCP-PWG).
Priyanka Gotimayum is a resident of Thoubal Kiyam Siphai Thong Ahanbi. Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the motive behind the threat, and a case has been registered in connection with the incident.
