The Lions Club of Imphal Leimarol organised an awareness programme on the theme “Lions Quest Program for Teachers and Students with Special Emphasis on Social Emotional Learning (SEL)” at Tamphasana Girls Higher Secondary School, Imphal.
President of the Club, Lion Memyo Ningombi, delivered the welcome address, during which she highlighted the importance of observing Rohit Mehta Lions Quest Week across the country. In her keynote address, Lion Dr. Vinita Devi Elangbam elaborated on the global impact of the Lions Quest program, noting that it has benefitted students, teachers and families in many parts of the world.
Resource person Lion Dr. Konika Khuraijam, PMJF, Principal of DM College of Teacher’s Education, spoke on the core principles of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) with a focus on teachers. Another resource person, Lion Nandini Thockchom, PRO of the Club, engaged the students in an interactive session on SEL, conflict resolution and responsible decision-making.
The Lions Quest initiative was explained as a comprehensive program integrating SEL, character development and substance use prevention through structured thematic units and lesson plans. The program is designed to equip students with essential life skills, encourage healthy relationships and support responsible decision-making.
As part of its recent activities, the Lions Club of Imphal Leimarol District 322D, in collaboration with Shija Eye Care Foundation, organised a free eye check-up and awareness programme on eye donation at Langol Ningthou, Imphal, on August 16. The programme was conducted for the members of Langol Old Age Home, where Dr. Noornika Khuraijam explained the importance of eye donation. Following the initiative, 12 residents of the home consented to donate their eyes and took a pledge of declaration.
It was also mentioned that as part of the observance of the centenary of Helen Keller’s “Knight of the Blind” journey (1925–2025), the Club, in collaboration with Ushingsa Kitchen, distributed packaged food items to the students of Government Ideal Blind School, Imphal, on August 20.
