Lifting of CrPC 144 from Ukhrul has no effect to the UNC blockade

Lifting the prohibition order under section 144 of the CrPC has little effect to the ongoing indefinite Blockade along the National Highways and Naga Inhabited areas as UNC stands firm for PMO intervention and solution to the vex Naga Political issue.“The issue is not merely law and order problem it is political and until the Prime minister of India intervened and fulfil the demand of the UNC we will continue the blockade,” said Milan, publicity secretary of the UNC while talking to Imphal Times.He further said that the UNC is expecting a lasting solution to the vex Naga problem and the UNC will not lift  the blockade until it is done.However, in Ukhrul after the lifting of the CrPC 144 people were seem relieved and normal life was slightly resumed.“People are somewhat relieve, but the pains about the dead of the two civilian during August 30 protest still whisper,” said Asung, a student leader of Ukhul.The UNC’s indefinite blockade came into force from 6 am of September 4 and following that all vehicular flow along the two National Highways has been seriously affected.Following the blockade, the state government has been cautioned of shortage of essential commodities and over 336 trucks were sent to Jiribam for ferrying essential commodities along Imphal Jiribam road amidst tight security arrangement.According to report reaching here, some of the truckers who had reached Jiribam expressed their unwillingness to ferry goods along the NH-37 as the road condition was unbearable.
