Library and Information Centre Kakching gives away its 17th combo awards

The 17th Awards Presentation Function 2015 of Library and Information Centre, Kakching, was held at the Centre’s Auditorium on Sunday.
The Awards consist of 14 different categories and were conferred to 25 achievers who has shown their outstanding performances in the field of various streams including education, sports and teaching.
Out of the 25 award recipients Melody Khoirom, topper H.S.L.C. Exam. 2015 was conferred the Governor’s Award. The award consist of Rs.10,000 and a citation. Naorem Kabita, Naorem Bronson,Topper and 2nd Topper of Kakching Centre in H.S.L.C. Exam. 2015 received the Phanjoubam Gourahari Singh Awards which consist of Rs. 3000 and Rs. 2000 and a citation each.
Mayanglambam Rajkumar (IAS) and RajivKumar Yengkhom (IRS) of Civil Service Examination 2014 was honoured with both Kshetrimayum Sanajaoba Singh-Smt.Amureima Devi Awards and Kshetrimayum Ibohal Singh Awards. While Khetrimayum Abdeitya (75) Retd. Teacher of Kakching Mayai Leikai, Rajdhani Pareng was honoured with Naorem Amuba Singh Teacher Award. The award carried a case of Rs.5,000/-, a shawl and a citation.
Prof. H. Nandakumar Sarma, Vice – Chancellor, Manipur University, Naorem Gandhar, retd. Principal, Kha Manipur College, Kakching, P.Sampha, President, Library and Information Centre, Kakching graced the function as presidium members.
Congratulating the award recipients, chief guest of the function Prof. Nandakumar expressed his gratefulness in experiencing the integrity of the people of Kakching. He said he attended a number of various functions and programs, however he had never seen the way people of Kakching is cooperating in upgrading education. Specially the role play by Library and Information Centre is quite unique, continued the Professor.
On the other hand, while narrating the history and development of education in Kakching area, Naorem Gandhar, highlighted the contributions of late Teacher Phanjoubam Gourahari of Imphal in education movement in this area. He addressed the teacher as a great reformer and said people of Kakching and the coming generations too, should never forget this great teacher who has lightened this place in the field of education.
Today’s function was begun with floral tributes to the pothos of individuals on which the awards were named.
In connection with the function, yearly published souvenir Vol.XVII by Library and Information and a book named Inspiring the Youth: Through Books written by Prof.N.Rajmuhon, Chemistry Department, Manipur University were also released.
