The day’s programme will begin with a welcome speech by Athonliu Chawang, President of Liangmai Pui Naga Ruangdi, followed by a keynote address from Nongthombam Sanajaoba, Convenor of the Market Committee. The Chief Guest and Guests of Honour will address the gathering, focusing on the importance of promoting farmers’ produce, strengthening local markets, and fostering community harmony through economic initiatives.
A special highlight of the event will be a cultural presentation, including a song by Achun Chawang, reflecting the Liangmai community’s rich cultural identity. The inauguration will also include a dedication prayer led by Mathiudinbou Abonmai, Pastor of Liangmai Baptist Church, Imphal.
As part of the inauguration, stalls showcasing farm produce, vegetables, fruits, and other items cultivated by Liangmai farmers will be opened, creating a direct link between growers and consumers in Imphal. Organisers said the market is envisioned as a permanent platform to support farmers’ livelihoods, provide consumers with fresh produce, and foster economic self-reliance.
