LMS Law college students’ union burnt effigies of its principal and Education (U) Director at LMS law college campus at around 2 pm today. Later a press meet was held at AMSU office.
During the press meet General secretary of All Manipur Students Union (AMSU) Manjit Sarangthem said that the burning of the effigies of the principal and Education (u) director was due to the controversy of election of the LMS Law college student union which was created by the principal.
He further said that the election of the student union which was fixed on May 30 was rescheduled, a notice announcing the postponement of the election as well as the scrutiny was issued by the Principal instead of the RO as the procedure demanded. The students now demands the election to be held on or before June 2 so that the voting rights of the students who are appearing their 6th semester are not denied. Manjit also warns the principal of intensive agitations if the demand is not met, and stated that the principal and the Education (U) director should bear responsibility for any untoward incident arising thereof.
