The acquired land for construction of Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Moreh has not been handed over to the department of Commerce and Industries by the Land Custom station at Moreh. An official source said that 45.50 acres of land has been acquired by the Government of Manipur for construction of ICP at Moerh under Customs notify area. The Deputy Commissioner, Chandel, Manipur handed over 38.34 acres of private land to the Assam Riffles as advised by MHA on June, 2010.The balance land of 7.16 acres were acquired from Govt. Land.
Among this land the area of 0.8770 hectare has been occupied by the Land Customs Station at Moreh. Till now there is no formal transfer of land and asset to the ICP, Moreh.
The official source said that the then Chief Secretary Manipur vide his D.O. letter No. 6/8/2009-C & I dated 28/6/2010 informed to JS(BM), Govt of India to request MHA, Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Deptt. of Revenue/CBEC, Govt. of India to transfer the land and assets of Land Customs Station to ICP, Moreh.
The report added that with the present condition there is no way that speedy progress for construction of ICP Moreh can be underway.
