Lamyamba Irabot Day to be observed on September 30

The Protection and Preservation Committee, Manipur (PPCM), in association with the Lamyamba Irabot Ningshing Thouram Observation Committee (LINTOC), has announced that the birth anniversary of Hijam Irabot will be observed on September 30, 2025. The observance will be held at Wahengbam Leikai Lairenbi, Imphal, under the initiative of PPCM.
PPCM Convenor Pheiroijam Nando Luwang, along with LINTOC Convenor L. Shyam Khuman and Co-Convenors Kh. Gopen Luwang, K. Thoiba Meetei, and Y. Tiken Singh, will lead the programme. Representatives of various organisations, including Meira Paibis and civil society groups, are expected to take part in the event, which will feature commemorative activities in honour of Lamyamba Irabot’s contributions.
LINTOC Convenor L. Shyam Khuman stated that the programme is being organised to remember Irabot’s lifelong struggle for the welfare of the people of Manipur and his fight against social injustice. He added that Lamyamba Irabot’s vision remains relevant today, as he stood for unity, equality, and the upliftment of the oppressed.
PPCM Convenor Nando Luwang also highlighted that Irabot’s ideals of equality and justice should guide the present generation. He noted that Irabot worked tirelessly for the upliftment of the poor and downtrodden, carrying forward the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi while shaping his own path of struggle for the people.
The Committee appealed to the public to join the observance and honour the memory of Lamyamba Irabot, who is remembered as a visionary leader and revolutionary figure in Manipur’s history.
