Lady IRB personnel demand removal of CO Wahengbam Mamata

Around 200 lady personnel of the 9th Indian Reserved Battalion (IRB) today down their service weapon and staged protest at Khuman Lampak main stadium demanding removal of the Commanding Officer (CO) Mamata Wahengbam.
Since early morning, around 5.30 am the lady personnel gathered at Khuman Lampak Main stadium and after a brief consultation the lady personnel came towards Dingku Road and blocked all vehicular movement towards the Main Stadium road at Khongnang Ani Karak Chingmeirong.
A protesting lady personnel while speaking to media persons said that the CO of the battalion Wahengbam Mamata has been harassing them both physically and mentally. She said that there were no official formalities in assigning their duty. She said they will continue the protest until the CO is removed from the post.
The 9th IRB women battalion has around 600 cadres attached to various post at Churachanpur, Imphal East, Imphal West and Maphou dam.
 Later, at around 11 am Manipur DGP Shahid Ahmad and Additional DGP P. Mallana Goud came to take stock of the situation. The lady police personnel presented their grievances and both the top police official assured them of looking after the matter in consultation with the Home Minister.
The lady IRB personnel however, resumed their agitation after both the officials left. They said that they will not allow CO Wahengbam Mamata to enter her office.
