Labourers demand increase in their daily wage

Demanding hike in their daily wages by Rs. 20, labourers of stone crusher staged a sit-in-protest today at Pheidinga Bazar.
Speaking to media, Secretary, The North Imphal Labourer Association, Th. Rajen said the labourers working as stone crusher at Pheidinga area gets Rs. 180 per day but those working at other area such as Khongampat area get Rs. 200 per day. When the labourers had demanded the owners to increase the payment the labourers had been asked to stop working. Rajen further said that no labourers will continue their work until the payment has been hiked to Rs. 200 per day and threatened to intensify agitation if anyone continued working at the earlier payment amount.
