Imphal, July 22:
The Fair Price Shop (FPS) agents of Kshetrigao Assembly Constituency have formally requested the Deputy Commissioner of Imphal East, through the nominee of the MLA of the 4-Kshetrigao Assembly Constituency, to issue an urgent order retaining them for the distribution of allocated rice under the National Food Security Act (NFSA).
In their letter, the FPS agents highlighted the severe hardships faced by the people due to the non-distribution of allocated rice for the past eight months. They emphasized that the rice is crucial for the sustenance and well-being of the beneficiaries in the constituency.
The agents pointed out that despite the allocation, rice has not been distributed for the last eight months, leading to significant food insecurity among residents. They also mentioned delays in administrative processes that have exacerbated the problem, preventing them from performing their duties effectively.
The FPS agents have requested the Deputy Commissioner to retain all FPS agents in the Kshetrigao Assembly Constituency to facilitate rice distribution under the NFSA. They also urged for the immediate authorization of the distribution of the backlog of rice and the implementation of measures to ensure timely and regular distribution to prevent future issues.
The agents stressed that prompt action will alleviate the suffering of the constituency’s people and ensure the benefits of the NFSA reach those in need
