Chief of Sagang Village Emmi Serto has stated that the Kom community has not sided with any of the community and will continue to remain neutral in the coming days.
The village chief said that due to the ongoing crisis in the state, people of the region has been facing serious difficulties. The Sangang Village Authority while praying for a speedy solution to the present crisis also condole for those who have lost life during the conflict. The Village Chief also appealed to end this conflict for restoration of peace and harmony in the state.
“During the month of May, June and July, the Komrem Union Manipur and Kom Union Manipur have time and again resolve to maintain neutrality by the Kom community”, Village Chief of Sagang, Emmi Serto said and added that the Kom Community inhabiting in the 13 Villages in Sagang area continue to remain neutral.
A statement by the Chief of Sagang Village Authority further said that on May 13 and May 26, the Sagang Village Authority and the Tuirinphaisen Village Chief hosted a peace meeting at Sagang Village. In that meeting representatives from Wangoo Sabal, Naodakhong (Meitei/Meetei villages), Borayangbi (Muslim village), Chiefs of Dampi kuki area, Commandant of 9 Assam Rifles Col. Chandrakant and Commandant of JAT Regiment Col. Chandrakant attended. The meeting resolved to maintain cordial relationship among various communities residing in the area. The Kom community has been upholding the resolutions till today and will continue to do so, Sagang Village Emmi Serto said.
The Sagang Village Authority appealed to the people not to spread rumours and requested all including the media to verified any conflicting news before publication.
