Imphal, Feb 15:
Koireng led UNLF today refuted the claim made by the Assam Rifles about the arrest of one of its cadre from the Namli area under Kashom Khullen Police Station in Kamjong district, as reported in yesterday’s evening and today’s morning newspapers.
A statement by Shak-Hen, Secretary of Publicity, Central Committee of the Koireng Led UNLF group, stated that the news articles claiming that the Assam Rifles arrested an injured, bullet-ridden cadre of the Koireng led UNLF are nothing more than an attempt to tarnish the image of the armed group. The person arrested, L. Rishikanta Singh (18 years old), son of L. Kanhai Singh of Naransena, Bishnuur district, as reported in the newspaper, has no connection whatsoever with the UNLF or its army wing MPA.
The statement further explained that the Assam Rifles and the Indian Intelligence already have all the information about Rishikanta. They know which revolutionary group Rishikanta is working for, why he came to Kasom Khullen, and how he got injured. However, the IOF is spreading false propaganda to defame the Koireng led UNLF.
The statement appealed to the people not to fall into the trap set by the IOF. It emphasized that the rebel group remains steadfast in its demand for the restoration of lost independence.
