“Editors’ Guild Manipur, will be organizing debate/discussion/Q&A sessions of the candidates of Manipur Outer and Inner Parliamentary Constituencies on 4th (Outer) and 7th (Inner) April 2019 in connection with the upcoming Lok Sabha election 2019.
The program is entitled “Know your MP Candidates” and will be participated by various stake holders from various walks of life and eminent personalities. Stake holders table will include Senior Citizens, Lawyers, Intellectuals/ academicians, Journalists, Entrepreneur, Trade and Commerce, Government Employee Unions, CSOs,  Film and entertainment industry, Social Activists like Human Rights/Consumer forum/Tribal rights , women group etc. Over and above stake holders table, few seats will be open to general public.
The purpose of this debate/discussion/Q & A is to enable the people of Manipur to choose a perfect representative who will represent Manipur at the parliament. As Manipur has only 2 representatives, EGM feels that the people must choose representatives who will be dynamic, accountable, clean, socially responsible, qualified, visionary and above all have Manipur in his or her heart.
EGM understands that democracy is about people’s rule and strength of the democracy lies in making an informed choice. The time to make the choice is here and this debate is to help people make an informed choice.
The event will take place at Hotel Grande from 1 PM onwards and will be telecast live on major cable networks and covered widely in state news papers.
To encourage the media, best reportage prize will also be given to reporters and editor of the paper publishing it.
