The Central Committee of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) and the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) have condoled the deaths of two of their cadres who were killed during an encounter at the Manipur-Myanmar border around 10 PM on April 25.
In a joint statement issued today, the proscribed groups identified the deceased as 2nd Lt. Oinam Telheiba alias Landaba (36) of the Meeyamgi Yawol Laanmee (MYL), the armed wing of KYKL, and Lance Corporal Ahanthem Bishan alias Kanglei (29) of the Meeyamgi Fingang Lanmee (MFL), the armed wing of KCP. The statement said the two cadres lost their lives during a confrontation with Indian security forces and their allied proxy forces.
According to the statement, 2nd Lt. Landaba, son of Oinam Ranjit and Oinam Ongbi Yandhabi of Uchiwa Turel Wangma, was the eldest among his siblings. He joined KYKL in late 2007 and completed the 2nd Batch of Basic Military Training (BMT). Recognized for his performance, he was inducted into MYL. Landaba was described as a disciplined, brave, and committed revolutionary.
At the age of 18, he operated across various locations in the Western South East Asia (WESEA) region. Notably, he participated in the “Puraolon Ambush” on June 4, 2015, where a joint operation by KCP, KYKL, and NSCN(K) targeted a convoy of the Indian Army’s 6th Dogra Regiment in Chandel district, killing 18 soldiers and injuring 15 others.
Meanwhile, Lance Corporal Ahanthem Bishan, son of A. Kumarijit and Ahanthem Ongbi Pishak of Khurai Thoidingjam Leikai, was the youngest child in his family. He was remembered as a spirited and courageous cadre who assumed various responsibilities within the revolutionary setup.
