KCP denies link to grenade attack, alleges misuse of letterhead

The Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) has denied any involvement in a Chinese hand grenade being found along with a letter bearing its name outside the residence of a sawmill proprietor at Yairipok Yambem Makha Leikai under Andro Police Station.

In a statement, KCP Media Coordinator A. Luwangba said the grenade and a “Last Warning” letter were reportedly found outside the residence of Sarungbam Bimol, proprietor of M/S H. Rameshwar Sharma Saw Mill (Victoria Veneer Mills), during the early hours of October 4.

Luwangba claimed that the letter bearing KCP’s name was fake, pointing to discrepancies in its date, reference number, place and signature. He said the reference number shown on the letter—098/Fin/KCP/26/012 dated October 2, 2026—did not match a letter allegedly issued by the organisation earlier.

He further claimed that the signature on the letter was not that of the party’s Deputy Finance Secretary and alleged that the incident could have been the work of unknown individuals attempting to defame the KCP or could be linked to a personal dispute.

The KCP said it would investigate the matter and appealed to residents of Leikai, particularly those acquainted with Bimol, to provide any information that could help identify those responsible for placing the grenade and letter.
