KCP (Apunba) claims blast, warns MLA Kebi’s husband to surrender

The armed group Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) (Apunba) has claimed responsibility for the alleged explosion that the party claimed to have occurred at the residence of one Somerendro at Khurai Sajor Leikai, Chaithabi Leikai, around 11 p.m. on August 3, and issued a four-day ultimatum to him and Govind, the husband of an MLA identified as Kebi, to surrender before the outfit.

In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Punsirol Meitei, the outfit described the blast as a warning and alleged that Somerendro, in collusion with Govind, had misappropriated a substantial amount of the organisation’s funds. It claimed that both individuals had earlier been instructed to contact the outfit regarding the alleged misappropriation but had failed to do so.

The statement said the explosion at Somerendro’s residence was intended as the “last warning” to both individuals. It further asserted that the organisation has consistently taken stringent action against those accused of misappropriating its funds, irrespective of the amount involved, claiming that even the embezzlement of a single rupee would invite disciplinary action.

The outfit warned Somerendro and Govind to surrender before the organisation within four days, failing which they would face what it termed “dire consequences.”
