Justice for fake encounter victims sought Herojit likely to give confessional statement to trial court on February 20

Large number of people today staged a protest demonstration at Khurai Lamlong Keithel demanding punishment of those involved in the killing of Ch. Sanjit and Rabina on broad daylight of July 23, 2011. The protest demonstration organized by the JAC against the brutal killing of Ch. Sanjit was attended by various representatives of CSOs and Human Rights Activists of the state.
On the other hand Manipur police head Constable Th. Herojit, who had confessed to the media on how he shot dead Ch Sanjit on July 23, 2011 at BT Road Imphal is likely to give his confessional statement on February 20 to the court of Session Judge Manipur West.
Speaking to reporters, the convenor of the JAC Thongratabam Anita said that Herojit’s confessional statement to the trial court is very important and people of the state need to stand by his side. She said that government should take up all necessary action as the truth has been revealed. She further added that government should suspend Imphal West district police SP Dr. AK. Jhalajit as it has been stated that he was the one who had given order to kill Sanjit on that day. She further appealed to award befitting punishment to all those involved in the killing of Sanjit.
Co-convenor of Apunba Lup Manipur, Sunil Karam while speaking on the occasion said that Indian army has been eliminating the civilians under the Shadow of the Armed forces Special Powers Act, 1958 for the last few decades. But as the people started voicing against such brutal Killing the army then utilized the Manipur Police Commando by coining the word combined forces. Since then killing is being left over to the police commando. He said as many as 1528 cases of extrajudicial killings are pending in the Supreme Court and people should keep on urging the authority to deliver justice to all the victims of fake encounter. 
Phunindra Konsam, co-convenor Apunba Lup, Soibam Rajendra Kumar, Coordinator, Alliance for Human Rights Manipur and Oinam Ongbi Bimola, Advisor iramdam Kanba Apunba Lup among others also sent strong message to the government demanding punishment of all those involved in the killing
