The dead of an aged lady at 1st MR ground in Imphal while waiting her turn to get the old age pension on Wednesday afternoon, is likely to spark mass protest in the state if the state government fails to act timely by punishing all those responsible for the death. Locals of the deceased lady, Irengbam Purnimashi (65), who died due to the pain of the harassment given by the authority of the social welfare department, today staged a protest demonstration at Pishum Ningom Leirak as no government authority has come up to discharge justice to the departed soul. L. Haridas, President of the Yaipha Lamjing Lup, Pishum Ningom Leirak, which organised the protest demonstration, while speaking to media persons said that the department of Social Welfare, Govt. of Manipur should be held responsibility for the dead of the aged lady. He said the nature at which the department authorities are giving to the aged people cannot be tolerated.“No children will ever want to sent their parents to get the old aged pension, if they continue distributing it in the manner”, said Haridas.He further added that the department authorities are committing the most heinous form of crime towards our elders and for that those responsible should be punished with the law of the land. He also caution of serious mass movement if the government remain silent on the matter.
