The Justice Committee on Anglo-Manipuri War 1891, Martyrs and Freedom Fighters of Kangleipak (Manipur), has announced that it will be honouring five distinguished individuals during a special felicitation programme on April 25, 2025. The event will take place at the Community Hall, Tengol Leikai, Khongjom, beginning at 11:00 AM.
In a press release issued by the Committee, the organisation stated that the initiative aims to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions of individuals who have played vital roles in journalism, academia, and social thought in Manipur. The personalities to be honoured include Hemanta Kumar Ningomba, a Senior Journalist; Rinku Khumukcham, Editor of The Imphal Times; Paonam Labango Mangang, Editor of The Kangla Pao; Jit Ningomba, Chief Editor of Elite TV; and Dr. Yumnam Premananda Singh, head of the Department of Law at Manipur University, Canchipur.
These individuals have been recognised for their significant efforts in promoting truth, critical thought, and service to the community. During the programme, they will be felicitated with certificates, cash awards, and tokens of appreciation in acknowledgment of their work and dedication.
Chairman of the Committee, Joychandra Konthoujam, expressed gratitude to the awardees, stating that their recognition is not only a tribute to their individual contributions but also a gesture of encouragement for others striving to serve society with honesty and integrity.
The Justice Committee, comprising fourteen organisations and descendants of the heroes of the Anglo-Manipuri War, continues to uphold the legacy of Manipur’s martyrs and freedom fighters through such initiatives that inspire and educate the present generation.
