Reacting to the statement made to the press on December 27, 2020 by one Athon Abonmai, President of Zeliangrong Baudi , Joint Tribes Council (INU, LNC, RNC and ZNC) stated that the erstwhile social organizations of ‘Zeliangrong’ nomenclature once used widely have been dissolved by its constituent tribesmen, namely Zeme, Liangmai and Rongmei as it excluded Inpui tribe thereby disintegrating the brotherhood. The use of the ‘Zeliangrong’ nomenclature was ceased in order to accommodate its kindred tribe, the Inpui. Subsequently, an adhoc body with the name and style of ‘Joint Tribes Council’ was formed to represent the Inpui, Liangmai, Rongmei and Zeme people of Manipur state through their respective apex bodies-Inpui Naga Union (INU), Liangmai Naga Council (LNC), Rongmei Naga Council (RNCM) and Zeme Naga Council (ZNC) respectively till a suitable unified body is formed.
The joint body term ‘Zeliangrong Baudi’ as unmandated and alleged that the so call ‘Zeliangrong Baudi’ confused and misled the people.
The statement added that the political stand of the Inpui, Liangmai, Rongmei and Zeme people is loud and clear. Ever since the time when we were represented by the ‘Zeliangrong’ organizations we have given our mandate and the same stands even today.

The joint body appealed members of the Inpui, Liangmai, Rongmei and Zeme people to come to the mainstream, reason together and put forth the united voice, which is the need of the hour.Ours is a people based organization, hence people must understand the above facts and move forward unitedly leaving behind the differences for our common good.
