Tombi said in the upcoming winter election, all the 60 MLAs should take the decision for removal of ‘disturbed area’ status from the state. There are various incidents including that of RIMS, Heirangoithong, Malom, Patsoi, etc., of killing and torturing people by central forces under the name of ‘disturbed area’ and Sharmila has been fasting for more than 14 years to repeal AFSPA, hence the status should be removed, said Tombi. He further appealed to JCILPS to relieve their agitation which was going to start from tomorrow, as the process for conducting surveys is 90% completed.
