Janata Dal United (JDU), Manipur state today appealed the state BJP unit to avoid using of party flags and symbols to the visit of any Union Ministers even though they belong to the BJP. Addressing a press conference at its office located at Babupara, JDU, President, M. Tombi said that Home Minister or any union Ministers’ visit to the state is official and it has nothing to do with their political party.
Speaking to media, Tombi said that JDU submitted a memorandum with a charter of demands to the Home Minister, Rajnath Singh and Minister of state for Home, Kiren Rijiju today morning in a five minutes meeting held at Rajbhavan before the Ministers left Imphal for his next visit at Tripura. The demands are as follows; to repeal AFSPA, 1958 from the state, to replace the Assam Rifles by Border Security Forces (BSF) at international and state boundaries, to install and establish special ‘high way protection force’ in both the NH’s, to flush out the un-recognized NSCN (IM) hide out camps at Ukhrul, tamenglong, Chandel, Senapati districts, not to compromise on territorial boundary issues and an early political solutions/dialogues with SoO’s and surrendered groups. Tombi further said that all the relevant documents including the notes from the book ‘India’s war on democracy’ regarding the implementation of AFSPA in the state were submitted to the Minister. He added that the Minister responded in a good way that he would look into the matter.
