JCILPS Women Wing staged protest rally Demands for new bill at the state assembly session

Imphal, Sept 2:  Large number of womenfolk’s of JCILPS women wings today staged a protest rally at Keisampat against the state government failure to bring up the issue for implementation of ILPS in the state Assembly Session, which begins today.
Speaking to the media persons, Palungbam Ningol Thongam Ongbi Apabi Devi, Convenor JCILPS Women Wing said that JCILPS have submitted a draft proposal on August 24 including a modality papers regarding implementation of ILPS at both valley and hill districts on August 29 to the state government.
Ruling government fails to bring up the matter at the assembly session on the ground of limited time as they were unable to call meeting for discussion of the proposals.
Showing disappointment, Apabi Devi also said that the state government seems to neglect the movement to protect the indigenous people of the state of both valley and hill areas. Such in-humanitarian act of the state government is agonizing by the people of the state, she added.
Strongly condemning the act of the state government, Apabi Devi further said that until the ILPS is implemented in the state, countless number of strong agitations will be carried out against the government. JCILPS women wings are prepared to face what may come to deprive their agitations, she added.
The agitations being carried out for the protection of indigenous people and implementation of ILPS in the state is not only for JCILPS members but it is for all the people of the state which includes government employees, MLAs, etc, she added.
Apabi further said that the excess police action against the peaceful agitators is intolerable where many have suffered minor and major injuries due to the use of tear gas and mob bomb against them. Some are still undergoing treatment, she asserted.
Around 50 womenfolk’s of JCILPS took part in today’s protest rally which was carried out from Keisampat Leimajam Leikai Mamang where the JCILPS is undergoing rally hunger strike . They were halt at the Keisampat traffic island by a strong team of police force which were already present at the area.  The women folk then staged a sit-in in the middle of the road blocking traffic along the route. Later the women protestors were made to turn back at their hunger strike premises.
Banners with slogans demanding immediate introduction of a new ILPS Bill were shouted during the rally.
