BJP workers stage protest near state Assembly; Around 15 BJP workers injured in police action

Imphal, Sept 2: Around 15 workers of the BJP were reported injured in police action at Khuyathong Junction at around 11 am today. The BJP workers were marching towards Manipur Legislative Assembly with party flags shouting slogans opposing fresh recruitment of Manipur Police Constable before declaring the result of the recruitment test for the same conducted for 2013 batch.
Earlier, at around 10 am today large number of hard core BJP workers gathered at the residence of BJP MLA Khumukcham Joykishan at Thangmeiband. From there the BJP workers marched towards the Manipur Legislative Assembly demanding revocation of the cancellation order for recruitment of the Manipur Police Constable (Male) 2013 batch. Slogans demanding resignation of the Home Minister and immediate halt of the fresh recruitment test being held at Pangei were shouted.
The BJP workers led by its state unit President Kshetrimayum Bhabananda Singh earlier staged a sit-in protest in the close proximity of the state assembly gate. They were pushed back by a strong police force up to Khuyathong.
The party is protesting against the cancellation of recruitment process of 2000 Manipur Police Constables(Male) by the Congress government in the state. BJP is demanding to immediately stop the fresh recruitment rally conducted by state Police Department after cancellation of the early recruitment process started from 2013.
The police later push them out upto Khuyathong Junction. Police then put up iron barricades to prevent them from crossing the area.
The BJP workers confronted the police by pulling out the iron barricade. The police then charged them with baton and fired several rounds of tear gas shells. Around 15 workers including women were injured in the police action. Out of them condition of 4 (2 women and 2 men) were reported serious.
