JCILPS supporters defy curfew; staged protest at various places in Imphal; students storm at CM residence at Thoubal

Even as district administration had imposed curfew under section 144 of the CrPC in Imphal East and Imphal West following the dead of a student during agitation for introduction of ILP, various supporters of the JCILPS today defy government prohibition order and came out at the street shouting slogan for punishment of the police personal involved in the killing of the student and demanding introduction of Inner Line Permit System in the state.
Report reaching here said that large number students also staged protest rally and storm to the residence of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh at Thoubal Athokpam at around 3 pm. Students of KM Blooming School, New Public Higher Secondary School and KIM Higher Secondary School staged protest rally towards Thoubal District Commissioner Office at around 2 pm. A team of Thoubal police stopped them in front of the DC office and made them stand at the road side. Later, the students moved towards Thoubal Athokpam and storm to the residence of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh. Police had hard time in controlling the agitators.
On the other hand when life in Imphal East and west is being terribly affected by the curfew imposed by district administration, almost all shops and business establishment also remain shuts in Thoubal and Wangjing bazaar. Local Meira paibi and club members also staged sit-in-protest in support of JCILPS at Wangjing Bazar. Later at around 2 pm the JCILPS supporters staged a protest rally and storm to the residence of MLA Paonam Brojen. A team of Thoubal police put the situation under control.
At Imphal East and Imphal West rally, and sit-in-protest were staged at various places. At Keishamthong area, around 100 people staged a protest rally from Khagempalli to Keishamthong bazar. A police team stopped the protestors and forced them back towards their home.
Supporters also burnt tryes at various places of Khurai, Uripok and Mayang Imphal, Wangoi etc. by defying the curfew order.
Meanwhile agitators pelted stones at police at some of the area. A VDF personnel sustain injury at Soibam leikai area after he was hit by a stone.
