JCILPS agitation turning into catastrophe; 1 died in supporters’ action at Uripok

The agitation spearheading by JCIPLS for introduction of Inner Line Permit System in the state is showing its ugly end with a person a person succumbing to injury after being hurt after supporters of the ongoing agitation pelted stones for violating the strike. The tragedy occurred when the deceased identified as Okram Balendro (age about 43) son of Okram Chaoyaima from Pishum Oinam Leikai was returning home after buying cakes and gifts for his daughter. Report said that agitation supporters at Uripok Tourangbam leikai halt tried to stop him by pelting stones at around evening. While trying to escape the supporters the deceased drive faster landing him to a tragic accident. He was evacuated to RIMS casualty but later succumbed to injury at around 10 pm.
Mention may be made that even as the convenor of the JCILPS had announced that those working in hospitals, Doctors, nurses, hospital staffs, media persons and rituals are exempted from the purview of the general strike many bandh supporters created problems at many places by not following the directives of the JCIPLS. Media persons were often humiliated by bandh supporters telling them to show their camera or cards.
The incident happened at Khurai Sajor leikai at which the people prevented reporters is a clear example.
