Demanding unconditional release of the 12 JCILP activists who were arrested by the state police from its office premises on September 8 evening in connection with the pulling up of one Yengkhom Davson, the student wing of the JCILP has imposed curfew to all the non-Manipuri residing in the state from today. In a press conference held today at the office of Students Union of Kangleipak (SUK), Co-convenor of the Student Wing JCILP S Subashchandra said that arrest of the JCILP activist and the declaration of Holiday for the schools and colleges cannot suppress the movement for demand of the Inner Line Permit System. He said the Chief Minister had contradicted its statement by declaring holiday in school and colleges indefinitely. He said when he appealed the students’ body not to disturb the academic atmosphere, his government is declaring holiday.Subashchandra further said that additional SP Yengkhom Victoria and the Chief Minister is trying to divert the issue of the people. He said Victoria intentionally tried to sabotage the peoples’ movement for introduction of the Inner Line Permit System and the Chief Minister seems to be backing her to her move.Subashchandra said that the government move cannot suppress the peoples’ movement instead it would create more serious crisis in the state. The curfew imposed to the non Manipuri will not be lifted until the arrested members of the JCILP were release unconditionally.
