Jan Kalyan Shivir underway across districts to expand access to welfare schemes

The nationwide Jan Kalyan Shivir (Public Welfare Camp) campaign, aimed at ensuring the effective outreach and saturation of welfare and beneficiary-oriented schemes of the Central and State Governments, is being conducted across several districts of Manipur from June 12 to 20.

In Tamenglong, a three-day camp organised by the District Administration commenced today at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Mini Stadium. Seventeen stalls set up by government departments and partner agencies are providing services including Aadhaar enrolment, PM-Kisan registration, tuberculosis screening, issuance of ST certificates and other welfare-related services. Officials including CEO of ADC Tamenglong Kachamthai F. Gangmei, SDO D. Meidinbui, SDC Savio Daimei, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sunil Kamei and Zonal Education Officer N. Abonpou Christopher attended the programme.

A similar three-day Jan Kalyan Shivir was launched in Senapati district at the Multi-Purpose Hall opposite the Mini Secretariat Complex. Addressing the inaugural function, Deputy Commissioner Dharun Kumar S. described the initiative as an important step towards transparent and citizen-centric governance by bringing essential government services closer to the people. Twenty-five departmental stalls were established to facilitate enrolment under welfare schemes, grievance redressal and on-the-spot service delivery. Various benefits, including Kisan Credit Card sanction letters, sports materials, vermicompost units, assistive devices, PM-JAY and CMHT cards, Mission Vatsalya sponsorships, dustbins and tree saplings, were distributed to beneficiaries. Welfare camps were also organised at Lairouching and Song Song sub-divisions.

Meanwhile, the District Administration of Pherzawl launched its Jan Kalyan Shivir at Parbung Community Hall. Residents availed services such as registration under PM-JAY, CMHT, PM-Kisan and PM Surya Ghar schemes, Aadhaar enrolment and updation, health screening, correction of records and grievance redressal. Officials said the initiative seeks to bridge the gap between government services and beneficiaries, particularly in remote areas.

The camps will continue until June 20, with authorities encouraging eligible residents to make full use of the services and benefits being offered.
