Security force apprehends 4 UGs

As a part of the security measures ahead of Independence Day celebration, security force in the state has been beefed up across the state. While state police force are conducting search operation to flush the anti social element, para military and Assam Rifles are keeping vigils along the Imphal – Moreh route to filter entry of anti social elements. In a press statement issued by the PIB – Defence Wing troops of Assam Rifles had apprehended 4 underground activists while conducting frisking of vehicular movement along the route.The statement said, on August 9, troops of the 6 DOGRA of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) established a vehicle check post at Pallel and apprehended one UNLF UG cadre. The apprehendee was identified as No 2268 L/Cpl Ninthoujam Th Thoithoi Meitei alias Veera alias Kangleikhomba, aged 26 yrs, S/o N Samungou Meitei, resident of Waiton, PS- Heingang, Dist – Imphal East. One 7.65mm Pistol (Register No 111)  with four live rounds, one mobile phone, Three SIM Cards, one Voter ID card and a PAN card was recovered from his possession. The apprehendee alongwith the recovered items  has been handed over to the Kakching Police station.On the same day another troops of the 24 Assam Rifles had  apprehended one UNLF cadre from Tengnoupal. The cadre was reported to have been travelling in a white coloured Maruti van Registration Number MN 01S 4827 towards Moreh. The apprehendee was identified as SS No 2400, SS Pvt, Naorem Manganba Meitei, aged 19 yrs, S/o Late Naorem Shanti Meitei, resident of Langol Game village Zone-4, PO- Langol Game, PS – Lamphel, Dist Imphal West. He was handed over to the Imphal West Police station.In another incident, troops of 22 Assam Rifles alongwith Thoubal Dist Police launched a joint operation in the general area of Tangjeng Khunou and apprehended one PLA cadre on August 10. The apprehendee was identified as No 030, Nongmeirakpam Engo alias Athouba, aged 37 yrs, S/o Nongmeirakpam Ibomcha Singh, resident of village Khulakpat Makha Leikai, Dist Bishnupur.On the same day, the same combine troop also conducted search in the general area of Sugnu and apprehended one PREPAK (VC) cadre. The apprehendee was identified as Khundrakpam Badanta Singh, aged 41 yrs, S/o Khundrakpam Dhaka Singh, resident of village Chairel Khongnang Leikai, Dist Thoubal. The apprehendee was handed over to the Sugnu Police Station.
