Around 15 local goons probably hired by vested interested persons played spoil in a protest rally staged by meira paibis at Kairembikhok in Thoubal district yesterday evening. Wrath over the raucous action of the local goons, who came in a Scorpio vehicle with flag post, club members and the meira paibi replied tough resulting bloody scuffle between them. 9 among them were rounded up along with the vehicle while the remaining managed to escape from the scene.According to reports, over hundreds of meira paibi staged a torch rally demanding introduction of Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) showing support to the agitation being underway by the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) at Kairembikhok in Thoubal district yesterday evening. The rally began from Laikol Mamang Leikai of Kairembikhok Mayai Leikai at around 8.30 pm yesterday and snakes through the streets of Sallungpham and Heirok and then proceeded towards Wangbal and Uyal Village and later returned to the place where they started the rally. When the rally was suppose to reach at the starting point some 15 local goons coming together in a white Scorpio vehicle with flag post bearing registration number MN-05 A 4345, got down from the vehicle and started enquiring to the result for staging the rally. They even told the meira paibis to return back to their home. At first they were treated to be personnel of the security force however, after learning that they are local goons the club members and the meira paibis tried to thrash them and ultimately a bloody scuffle took place between them and the club members. Nine of them were rounded up and the vehicle that they came was seized.Speaking to media persons, a meira paibi said that the matter was reported in time to the police however, none of the team arrived to take stock of the situation.Later, it was learnt that the Scorpio vehicle belongs to a Pradhan identified as Khoinaijam Dijen from Samaram.The nine local goons rounded up by the meira paibis are identified as Khoinaijam Bhomeshwor, son of Kh.Dijen Singh, Ningthoujam Bungo Singh, son of N.Rajen Singh, Laishram Nanao Singh, son of L.Deben Singh, Longjam Suranjit Singh, son of L.Shyamkesho Singh, Ningthoujam Santosh Singh, son of N.Helen Singh, Sagolshem Rajkumar Singh, Wahengbam Arun Singh, son of W.Babuchou Singh, Chongtham Ranjan Singh and Ningthoujam Amujou Singh, son of N.Sanaton .They are all from Samaram Mayai Leikai of Thoubal district and are between the age of 22 and 24.At around midnight, representatives of the JCILP also rush to the site and took stock of the situation. Those goons were handed over to their respective family after giving them advice about the peoples’ movement for introduction of ILP. Members of the JCILP while speaking to media persons said that all the 15 persons will be declared as enemy of the people.
