Imphal, July 31: At least three cadres of the Zelianrong United Front (ZUP) and an Assam Rifles personnel were killed in a fierce encounter today morning in Nungkao Village in Tamenglong district. Three other personnel of the AR are reported to have seriously injured in the gunbattle.
Additional forces rushed to comb the nearby areas. The casualty figure may rise.Sources said that based on intelligence inputs, the troopers of 13 Assam Rifles garrisoned at Tamenglong district cordoned off a temporary camp of the rebels of Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) at Nungkao Village in Tamenglong district. The gunfight took place after the ZUF started firing upon the AR trooper.
