Former MP of Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency Kim Gangte today slammed the Okram Ibobi led Congress government for the present crisis in the state.
“Development and peace is a signed of good governance but the total breakdown of the law and order situation in the state showed that the government is incapable of handling the situation”, said Kim Gangte at his resistance of Langol today.
She said that when Manipur was an independent kingdom, the then king of those times personally visited at any interior parts of the erstwhile kingdom to take stock of the condition of his people. However, at least 9 people have been died in public agitation at Churachandpur district and till today the Chief Minister or any of the cabinet ministers had never gone to the district and share the pains of the people of the area, she added.
“The way that the government runs today under the Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh shows that the government is for the Valley region only”, Kim Gangte said.
Gangte also strongly reacted and condemn the recent remark of MLA N. Biren at which he had stated that the present uprising is being instigated by rebel group presently ensuing in Suspension of operation with the government of India and Manipur.
She added that such irresponsible comment shows his lack of deep analysis.
“A leader should not speak such comment in such critical situation and she further added that such statement will not bring any solution but would be pouring of fuel to the burning fire.
She further added that during the time of formation of JCILPS the Kukis or the Naga had never been consulted . If there was a deep consultation or discussion about the needed of ILPS between the various communities of the state in the wake of the Indian Look East Policy and introduction of Railway like the present crisis would never had happen.
Regarding the cut years for sorting out of the non Manipur people as 1951 , Kim Gangte said that those in the interior part of Hill district were never covered by the census of the time. Above all those living together at Kabaw valley before it has given to Burma had to take shelter in the state. Kim Gangte question about the fate of those people from Kabaw Valley who had settled in the state.
