CM felicitates founder members of AMWJU on the 47th Foundation Day of Press Club

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh felicitated the founder members of the All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) on the occasion of the 47th Foundation Day Celebration of Manipur Press Club at Press Club, Majorkhul,  Imphal on Thursday.
Speaking at the celebration function as a Chief Guest, N. Biren Singh said that journalists joined this profession with a sense of Nationalism to serve the people and they occupy a very special place in the society. Expressing satisfaction on the role played by media, the Chief Minister also stated that media played a key role in disseminating the activities that are taken up by his government for the welfare of the State during his tenure. 
Regarding the rechristening of Mall road at Thangal Bazaar, N Biren Singh maintained that the decision was taken after considering the sentiment of the people. He also stated that during the last four years people had witnessed tremendous changes in hill areas in different sectors like road connectivity, drinking water etc.  and added that all these would not be possible without the support of the media fraternity. 
The Chief Minister appealed to the journalists to discuss the current scenario of the State to find out who is the real friend and enemy of the State. Further, he urged prominent media Houses to find out the direction in which the State is marching forward.  
As part of the programme, 5(five) elderly journalists who were the founder members of AMWJU namely Y. Orjit, P.R Shyam, L. Iboyaima, N. Krishnamohon and L. Sharatchandra Sharma were felicitated by the Chief Minister with a cash worth of Rs 10000 each as a New Year gift.
Amongst others, Maharaja Leishemba Sanajaoba, MP Rajya Sabha, Khogendra Khomdram, President Editors’ Guild Manipur and Wangkhemcha Shamjai, President AMWJU graced the function as guests of honour and functional president respectively.
