Mid day meal workers demand for releasing pending honorarium

The mid-day meal workers of Jiribam District demanded their pending honorarium and appealed to the government to pay 12 months honorarium in a year.
In connection with their demand, the mid-day meal workers of Jiribam District tried to stage a sit-in protest near the site of the Irabot statue at Jiribam. However, their protest was dismantled by police personnel, as there is a restriction of assembling people due to COVID-19 crisis.
Later, It was learned from the mid-day meal workers that their honorarium was pending since 2020. Regarding their wages, the mid-day meal workers of Jiribam said that their honorarium is only Rs. 1000 per month which is very low. They appealed to the Government to increase their honorarium at the minimum wages rate of the State.
They urged the Government and authorities concerned to release the pending honorariums at the earliest taking into consideration the suffering of the mid-day meal workers at COVID-19 crises.
