Manipuri celebrity Hamom Sadananda has been honoured with the title – “Brother of the disabled” in recognition to his service for the community. The title was announced yesterday by the authority of the Disabled Development Association, Manipur (DDAM) during the inaugural function of the 15 day residential Cricket Coaching camp held at Samurou Kangjeibung Ground yesterday. Speaking to this reporter, General Secretary of DDAM, Yunus Khan said that the Film actor cum Singer Hamom Sadananda has been honoured with the title in recognition to his various for promotion and welfare of the disabled communities of the state. He said various other personalities who had extended helping hands to the welfare programme of the disabled communities were also honoured on the occasion. Social Activist and National Awardee Loitam Bedamala Devi have been honoured with the title ‘sister of the disabled. Like Hamom Sananda, Bedamala has also been honoured with the title in recognition to her service for the disabled community.
DDAM also honoured K. Moranjan, Additional Chief Engineer CADA and founder of Modified North East India Naorem Mohen as the “Promoter of Disabled”.
Under the initiative of the DDAM various tricycle were also distributed to the disabled appeople on the occasion. Works Minister Kh. Ratan Kumar, who attended the occasion as the chief guest and President of All Manipur Working Journalist Union W Shyamjai distributed the tricycle to the beneficiaries on the occasion.
