Chief Minister rewards youth for taking care of stray and stressed Slow Loris

The incidences of detection of stray Slow Loris is increasing in the recent past. During the last week, four such cases have been reported where Slow Loris (Yong Ekhaithibi) were found in human habitation area and they are being handed over to Forest Officials who would thoroughly checked the health condition of the animals and released in wild if found healthy or kept in the Animal Care Unit of the Manipur Zoological Garden, Iroisemba.
While such strayed animals are reportedly ill-treated by many, they are taken care of by members of renown NGOs such as the People For Animal, Manipur, WBCC, local clubs etc and normally released them in wild. On such incidence came to light on the 6th June, 2021 when Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of Manipur came to know about a Slow Loris being taken care of by one Chingkham Sundar Singh, S/o Chingkham Nongyai Singh of Yairipok Top Chintha. The boy found the animal on the road side in the evening of June 4, 2021 when he was returning home. 
The animal was laying inactive, immobile and sick. He collected the animal and took care to bring its health to normal. Not knowing whom to hand over the animal, he used his social media account to attract attention of people concerning wildlife. It was from this platform that the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of Manipur took cognizance and directed the forest officials having jurisdiction of the area to collect and take care of the animal accordingly.
The forest officials collected the animal and shifted the same to the animal health facility at the Manipur Zoologaical Garden at Iroisemba. The animal is presently under the medical care of the veterinary doctor, Manipur Zoological Garden.
In recognition of the commendable act of taking care of the stray, stressed and sick Slow Loris by Chingkham Sundar during the covid pandemic, the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Manipur N. Biren Singh had rewarded the boy through the Divisional Forest Officer, Central Forest Division, Mantripukhri as a gesture and to encourage the boy and other youths in the state to inculcate in them the love for wildlife, forests and natural surroundings.
