The Launching Programme on “National Deworming Day” was held under the Churachandpur District Health Society at Tuibong Govt. High School, Tuibong, Churachandpur. Four students were administered with Deworming Tablets during the Programme by the SDO Tuibong and CMO Churachandpur. A similar programme was also held at Saikot Community Hall and Mount Olive School Tangmual.
Sarath Chandra Arroju, IAS, SDO, Tuibong stated that this particular deworming is really an important issues particularly in a country like ours where malnourishment is very rampant. Cautioning the students to take the tablets seriously even to the second round, he mentioned that if you have these worms inside you, it is not that you take the food rather it is the worms taking the food and imagining a 2-3 inches worms staying inside you.
Expressing his serious concern with the second wave Corona Virus and that the young are no longer exempted from getting sick from the virus, the SDO urged everybody to be extremely careful, more responsible towards care of family & community, avoid any sort of big gatherings and wash hand repeatedly to avoid worm infestation and Corona Virus.
Dr. VumchinpaoTonsing stated that due to growth retardation, mental retardation and all sorts of deficiencies including anaemia & malnutrition,the Govt. of India is taking keen interest to create awareness about worm infection and eradicating the Soil Transmitted Helminths (STH) in children aged 1 to 19 years. Urging to wash hand properly while playing and before taking food to break the circle of transmission, the CMO stated that deworming is important for all round development of physical and mental health.
Officials from Education Department and Medical Department also attended the programme.
