Drug dealer arrested along with 84 kg of opium with Rs. 20 lakhs

Imphal West police team arrested a drug dealer along with 84 .45 kg of opium and a sum of Rs. 19,85,000/- from Shantipur area of Kanglatombi at around 8.30 pm yesterday.
The seized opium with the cash was today paraded in front of media today at the office of the SP Imphal West district. Talking to media person SP Imphal West K. Meghachandra said that the drug dealer was arrested while conducting a search operation after receiving specific information about the presence of anti-social elements in Kanglatongbi, Shantipur area yesterday evening by a team of CDO-IW led Amarjit Singh Lamabam, MPS, Dy. S.P. (Ops) IW, Y. Kishorchand Meitei, MPS, DSP CDO IW and Inspector P. Achouba Meetei, OC-CDO-IW.
While checking the passerby one suspicious person was seen ran inside a house, Meghachandra said and added that the police team immediately pulled him up. He has been identified as Sandeep Limbu (Aged abt 31) son of Manbir Limbu of Erang Part -1, Dhoreghari, Senapati District at presence staying at Kanglatongbi, Shantipur.
The police team also recovered one mobile phone from him. On further checking his house and surroundings, 2 gunny bags suspected to be containing some illegal items were found inside the EECO van without registration no. which was parked in front of his house. On questioning about the contained 2 gunny bags, he replied that it contains some eatables like rice, dal, and vegetables. Suspicious about the contains of the 2 gunny bags, our police team check them and found 22 black packets of suspected Opium (Kani) weighing around 84.45 kg. on examination he admitted that he is a Drug dealer and said the recovered suspected Opium (Kani) was given to him by one Premjit at Sekmai Bazar on 02/04/2021 afternoon and brought the same to his house by using his EECO van. Further his disclosed he had gone to the Bazar area and collected Rs. 19,85,000/- (rupees nineteen lakhs and eighty-five thousand only) on 02/04/2021 from one unknown as instructed by one Karan of Guwahati. He further stated that the said suspected Opium (Kani) and the recovered money were to be delivered to Karan at Guwahati. He further disclosed that he had earlier transported Opium (Kani) five times before. The arrested person along with the recovered items has been handed over to be Sekmai Police station for further necessary action.
