Students from across the North Eastern states of India staged a protest demonstration at Jantar Mantar , New Delhi against the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act from 11am till 1 pm today.
President of Manipur Students’ Association Delhi (MSAD) Anash Khan while speaking during the protest said that the Citizenship Amendment Act will invade the demography of North East states, change the culture and identity of the various people of the North East states including the food habit, dress and culture.
“The Citizenship Amendment Act kills the aspiration of the various ethnic communities of North East people who have been dreaming for an egalitarian society from the forceful annexation by the Indian states”. Anash Khan said.
He further said that the CAA is a genocidal act and the Indian state is preparing to built a Hindutva state.
“The killing of protestors and the excess of the security forces towards the protestors against CAA at Jamia Milia University, New Delhi, Tripura and Assam reminds me the words of Sardar Valabhai Patel at which he said if there are no brigadier in Shillong when the then Maharaja of Manipur Bodhachandra refused to signed the controversial merger agreement”, the MSAD president said.  He further lambasted the divide and rule policy among the people of the states in North East region by  exempting the CAA at some of the state  with interim relief mechanism like ILP or Sixth Schedule which may not last long.
100s of students from the North Eastern states including Assam, Tripura, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya , Arunachal Pradesh joint the protest demonstration at Jantar Mantar New Delhi today.
