Uproar of street vendors: Tension grief Khwairambandh Keithel in Imphal

Imphal, Dec 30, Tension grief Khwairambandh Keithel of Imphal today morning, after large number of street vendors uproar against the police action to them. The street vendors alleged the leaders of the license vendor of the three Khwairamband Keithel for instigating the police of driving the street vendors out from the place. “These leaders of the Khwairamband Keithel are bribing the police to drive us out from selling our vegetable”, an irate street vendors told media persons. She added on why the street vendors have to be blamed when the license vendors could not sells their goods. Today’ s uproar was rooted from a police action to a street vendor at which her vegetables were allegedly vandalized by police today morning. The last couple of few days witness vendor license holder of the three Khwairamband Keithel protesting against the inaction of the police and state authority in driving out the street vendors from the surroundings of the Khwairamband Keithel. The license vendor women had staged a protest regarding the matter some few days back. Sunday morning scene at Kwairamband Ima Keithel here in the heart of Imphal town turn ugly as the police team face hard time in controlling the roar of the street vendors. “W e want Mangi and Rani (both leader of the license vendor of Khwairambandh Keithel) to come out and settle the matter”, another street vendors told media persons today . She blamed the two leaders of the Khwairamband Keithel license street vendors for the access committed to the street vendors by the police. She said street vendors too are earning their day today bread from the sell they made at Khwairamband keithel and driving them out is nothing but cutting their livelihood. She also appealed the government to settle the matter without hurting the sentiments of the street vendors at the earliest possible time and warn of unwanted consequences in failing to do so.
