The Manipur University Research Club organised one day workshop on Application of Computer in Research on 22nd December 2018 at the Department of Computer Science, Manipur University. The opening function was inaugurated by Prof W Vishwanath Singh(VC i/c), Prof Ch Yashwanta Singh (Dean, Student Welfare, Manipur University), Shri O Imocha Singh (Head, Department of Computer Science & Convenor), Dayaman Mayanglambam( MUSU president) as Chief Guest, President & Guest of Honours. The workshop was participated by more than 60 Research Scholars. Prof Ch Yashwanta Singh express that organizing such kind of one day workshop is very important as we are born at the stage of Information Technology. Understanding the use of Computer in Research is very important in humanities and social sciences but not only for sciences. Professor mentions that we should go together with the development of gadgets along with our mind or mentally. He also highlight that the department should organised such kind of workshop in the future. In organizing such kind function students will learn and understand how to organised and have to learn from the mistake, should be very honest and sincere. And no need to be shy as we are learning. He hope the said workshop will be helpful to research or in future. Dayaman Mayanglambam( MUSU president) express that organizing such workshop or seminar helps the researcher in their research work of the university with computer technology. Prof W Vishwanath Singh express that research is very important to update the knowledges. Without updating the knowledge, how can we compete with the rest of the world. Professor also express the desire to participate teachers in advising the research Club and the Club should invite the Professors in this university to deliver their paper that have been presented aboard in conference to revive the sprite of research. In the technical session, Dr. H. Mamata Devi (Associate Prof., Department of Computer science) speak on Introduction to Computer Application in Research. Tejmani Sinam (Associate Prof., Department of Computer Science) speech was on A Highlight of some Computer Application Tools. Dr. M Sobhakanta Singh (Physics Dept. MU) talk on Endnote publication and managing bibliographies, citations and references in MS Word. Dr.S.Shantikumar Singh (Statistics Dept. MU) talk on Data Analysis using SPSS Application. Lamabam Pradeep (Network Administrator, Computer Centre, MU) explain the report writing using LATEX software. M Lokendro Singh (Assistant Librarian, MU) talks was on Plagiarism. The valedictory function were graced by Prof N Rajmuhon Singh (Dean, School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, MU), Shri O Imocha Singh (Head, Department of Computer Science & Convenor) and Shri L. Kennedy Singh (General Secretary, MUSU) as Chief Guest, President, Guest of Honour respectively. Certificates were distributed to the participants during the valedictory function.
