6th Winter Disabled Mela For Inclusive Society For All Closes

 AF & PD, Revenue Minister   Karam Shyam said that we need  to develop a society based on  love, humanity  and culture to achieve the target of inclusiveness and development in Manipur.He was speaking as chief guest at the closing function of the 3-day 6th Winter Disabled Mela for Inclusive Society for All in observance of International Day of Persons with Disabilities-2018 at Tera Primary School, Sagoband Tera Bazar today.The Mela was held on the theme: “Empowering persons with disabilities and ensuring inclusiveness and equality”.It was jointly organised by Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons Manipur, Northern Disability Institute All Manipur Disability Right Network, The Symbiosis Society the Deaf Welfare Organisation , All Tribal Disables Union Manipur,  Society for Empowerment of Disabled Persons and Eramdam Apunba Disabled Welfare Association.Ex-MLA Patsoi A/C, Shri Sapam Kunjakeshor Singh; State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Dr.R.K.Amarjit; Ward Member, Sapam Leikai Gram Panchayat, R.K.Geeta Devi; Zonal Education Officer, Zone I ,Sucheta Kh; Chairman, Organising Committee ,  Chirom Opendro Singh; Social Scientist, Shri Dhanabir Laishram, Chief Editor, Pheejigi Manilaktagi,  Nimol N and National Awardee, Working for the cause of persons with disabilities  L Amarendra Sharma  also attended the function as President and Guests of Honour respectively.Minister Karam Shyam mentioned that there are around 54, 000 differently abled persons in Manipur. If all the Disabled Welfare Associations of the State unite into a single organisation with the same agenda, it will be more forceful and exert a stronger impact on the Government as well as the public, he stated.The Minister also assured that those who are normal should try to ensure rights for differently -abled persons by lending hands to them.Social Scientist Dhanabir Laishram spoke at length on the theme of the function – working for bringing an inclusive society in the State.
M Sumati Devi, a recipient of National Award for her contribution in the field of Disables Welfare was accorded a warm reception at the function.
It also was announced during the function that the Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons Manipur will provide assistance in getting pan-cards for the disables.
Differently Abled Persons from various places of Manipur participated in the closing ceremony.
Around 30 stalls took part in the Mela.
