Information and Public Relation Day Observed, Dedicated staffs honoured

Directorate of Information and Public Relation, Government of Manipur today observed the Information and Public Relation Day at its Office premise located at MSRTC Complex, Moirangkhom. The day is being observed to commemorate the establishment of the office. DIPR came into existence as Publicity Department on this day in the year 1949.Today’s occasion was graced by Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh as the Chief Guest while T Letkhogin Haokip, IAS, Principal Secretary (IPR) presided over it. Parliamentary Secretary of Minor Irrigation and IPR K Meghachandra Singh and Director of IPR, W Rajen attended as Guests of honours.Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh highlighted the role of the department saying that in a democratic set Information and Public relation department plays significant roles. He said it is department that the gap between the people and the government can be bridged. He said that ithout the service of the department there is no way that the developmental works being taken up the department can reach to the people of the state.Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh also apologised the gathering about his government inability to complete the DIPR office building which foundation has been laid by him. He said his government is serious about completing the office building with all possible funds of the government. He said his government is ready to sanction rupees 2 crore for completion of the building and appealed the director of the department to direct the contractors concern to speed up the works.Earlier, delivering welcome address, director of IPR, W. Rajen applaused the Chief Minister’s effort to upgrade the department into a major department. He also appreciated the Chief Minister and his cabinet colleagues to for approving to fill the 44 vacant posts besides creating another 58 post.Principal Secretary (IPR) Letkhogin Haokip, hile speaking on the occasion also thanks the Chief Minister or abolishing the government committee which decide the work of the IPR. He said the department will now has adequate machineries and manpower to serve the state.On the occasion, three staffs namely ( RK Sanayaima Devi, Retd. UDC, W. Nimai Singh, Radio Mechanic and M Tejmani Singh Accountant ) were honoured by conferring appreciation certificate in recognition to their services. Other staffs ho had retired from the service were also honoured on the occasion.
