Unlike the earlier seasons, people will have the chance to enjoy theater performances by renown artistes across the globe during the forthcoming Sangai Festival that would kick start from 21- 30 November this year.
As part of the Sangai Festival, the Department of Art and Culture, Government of Manipur is organizing a week-long (November 22-28) theater extravaganza – Asian Theater Festival- at Chandrakirti Auditorium, Palace Compound here.
Informing this to newspersons during a press conference, Ningthouja Deepak, Director of Asian Theater Festival said that 7 (seven) theater groups namely NT Theater of Manipur, (Mangshat); KADEN Theater Company, Japan (Trioa); Kalashetra of Manipur (Dropti); Nandir of West Bengal (Bipannata); Chorus Repertory of Manipur (Bacchae); Baa of Assam (Charan Das Chor) and Central Academy of Drama, China (Romeo and Juliet) would performed their plays starting from November 22.
Deepak who is also the Director of Ningthoujam Tombi Theater, Malom said that the Art and Culture Department took the initiative to organize the festival in order to promote theater movement and exchange culture with the participating states and countries.
