Inmate in critical condition after suffering stroke at Jiribam Relief Camp

IT Correspondent
Jiribam, Feb 18:

A 52-year-old inmate at the Jiribam Borobekra relief camp is reported to be in critical condition after suffering a stroke early this morning. The individual, identified as Maibam Gourakishore, experienced a severe blood pressure-related incident at approximately 4:50 AM and was subsequently transferred to Silchar Medical Hospital for urgent medical care.
Gourakishore, a resident of Modhopur village within the Borobekra Sub-Division of Jiribam district, has faced significant hardships due to ongoing conflict in the region. His family has been subjected to violence, allegedly at the hands of suspected Kuki militants, leading to their home being burned down on two separate occasions.
Before the conflict, Gourakishore supported his family by working as a daily wage earner, primarily supplying jar water to local communities. The ongoing turmoil has severely impacted his livelihood and overall well-being.
The incident has raised concerns among fellow inmates and local authorities regarding the health and safety conditions within the relief camp, highlighting the urgent need for better support and resources for displaced individuals affected by the conflict.
